Tottenham are holding out for £80m for wantaway midfielder Christian Eriksen amid interest from Real Madrid, claims The Sun.

Eriksen confirmed on Wednesday he is seeking a new challenge after six years at Tottenham and Madrid are in pole position for his signature.

The Denmark international has entered the final 12 months of his current Tottenham deal and is not interested in renewing with the north London outfit.

It was reported that Tottenham were holding out for as much as £130m for the 27-year-old but Madrid are not interested in paying that much.

Madrid are understood to have just agreed an £88.5m deal for Chelsea star Eden Hazard, who is in the same situation as Eriksen contractually.

It has now been revealed that Tottenham will demand suitors pay £80m for the 2019 Champions League finalist.

As it stands Madrid are the frontrunners for Eriksen’s signature, though Manchester United have also been linked with a move for the creative midfielder.

Since August 2015, Eriksen has provided at least five more assists than any other player in the Premier League (50).
