Revealed: Man City star De Bruyne pips Palmer and Saka as Premier League's elite creator in 2024
Still in the midst of the November international break, we take a look at the top chance creators in the Premier League in 2024. Here, we run through the top 10 for big chances created in England’s top tier this calendar year.
10. Andy Robertson (Liverpool) – 12
While he has gone a little off the boil this season under Arne Slot, Andy Robertson has still maximised the opportunity to press forward. Indeed, the Scot has created 12 clear-cut goalscoring chances in 2024.
9. Morgan Gibbs-White (Nottingham Forest) – 13
Having established himself as one of Nottingham Forest’s star players, it’s no coincidence that Morgan Gibbs-White features on the list having created 13 big chances this year. The England international’s stock has risen considerably following his first international cap earlier in the year.
8. Martin Odegaard (Arsenal) – 13
Level with Gibbs-White on 13 big chances is Arsenal skipper Martin Odegaard. The Norwegian would have undoubtedly featured higher on this list has he been fit for most of the 2024/25 campaign having been forced to the sidelines since September due to an ankle problem.
7. Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) – 14
While some may have felt Mohamed Salah would struggle for consistency under Arne Slot, the Egyptian has enjoyed the control the Dutchman demands and is arguably enjoying one of his best Premier League seasons. Salah has created 14 big chances, six of which have come under Slot.
6. Son Heung-Min (Tottenham) – 15
One of Tottenham’s star players under Ange Postecoglou, the Spurs captain ranks sixth on this rundown having created 15 clear-cut goalscoring opportunities in 2024. The 32-year-old may have struggled for consistency this season, with injury limiting his impact, but he’s still a key member of this Spurs side.
5. Dwight McNeil (Everton) – 16
Everton have so often fluffed their lines in front of goal since the start of last season but it’s not for want of trying, especially with Dwight McNeil pulling the strings. McNeil has made 16 big chances in 2024, eight of which have come this season.
Bukayo Saka is the second Arsenal player on this list having made 18 big chances in the Premier League this year. What’s all the more impressive is that 13 of those 18 have come this season, a metric Saka ranks top for.
3. Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United) – 19
Even with Manchester United’s struggles under Erik ten Hag, Bruno Fernandes has been a creative force as is to be expected. The United captain ranks third in this rundown having created 19 clear-cut chances in 2024.
When Chelsea spent big to sign Cole Palmer last summer, few could have foreseen the 22-year-old having such an impact at Stamford Bridge. Palmer has been directly involved in 45 league goals since the start of last season, netting 29 times, and has made the second most big chances in 2024 (20).
1. Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) – 24
Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne leads the way for clear-cut chances created in 2024, with 24. Having made just three in the Premier League this season, this highlights just how influential De Bruyne was in the second half of 2023/24, with the 33-year-old returning to injury in style at the turn of the year.
