Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has revealed Phil Jones has made himself available for Saturday’s huge clash with Tottenham.
Jones looked set for a long spell on the sidelines after collapsing to the turf with an apparent muscle injury midway through the first half of United’s shock 2-1 defeat to Huddersfield at the weekend.
However, the England international was fit enough to make the bench during United’s 2-0 win over Swansea on Wednesday night and after the game Mourinho revealed the state of Jones’ fitness.
“I think Jones will be [back] because, today, he was on the bench and he told me he will be ready in case I need him. So I believe he’ll be even better for Saturday,” Mourinho told the club’s official website.
Jones has been in imperious form for United this season and the injury he sustained against Huddersfield proved a game changer for the Red Devils.
United conceded both goals in the subsequent 10-minute period that followed Jones’ withdrawal, which equalled the amount of league goals Mourinho’s men conceded in their previous eight games combined.
