Rivals convinced Manchester City will sell Sterling

Manchester City’s Premier League rivals are convinced Raheem Sterling has no future under Pep Guardiola, reports The Daily Telegraph.

There have been mixed reports whether City offered Sterling in a potential transfer for Alexis Sanchez or whether Arsenal requested the England international to be part of a deal.

City have reiterated that Sterling is an integral part of Guardiola’s plans in light of recent events but there is a growing feeling among rival clubs and managers that Sterling will be sold in the near future.

The 22-year-old has struggled to kick on since making a £49m move from Liverpool in 2015 and, with Guardiola keen to bolster his offensive options further, Sterling could be axed as a result.

Sterling has only started one of City’s opening three matches and was sent off in the dying embers of their 2-1 win away to Bournemouth before the international break.

However, the City No.7 scored twice during that period and was voted the club’s Player of the Month for August.

In the last five Premier League campaigns, only Jamie Vardy (10) has won more penalties than Sterling (8).
