Manchester United make approach for Leicester ace

Manchester United have entered the race to sign Leicester midfielder James Maddison, claims The Independent.

Leicester are bracing themselves for bids for Maddison from a number of the Premier League’s top six sides.

Maddison, who is currently preparing for the U21 European Championships, has now emerged as a leading transfer target for United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants United to move away from signing household names and add ambitious, talented players to his squad before next season.

The Red Devils have already been heavily linked with a move for a number of young English players and Maddison is the latest, as they look to beef up their midfield options.

Maddison only joined Leicester last summer in a £20m deal but enjoyed a highly productive maiden campaign in England’s top-flight and is also a target for Tottenham, Liverpool and Arsenal.

The 22-year-old, who is now valued at £60m, was the only player to register 100+ key passes in the Premier League last season. He finished his first Premier League campaign with 14 goal involvements (seven goals, seven assists).
