Dortmund prepared to take former player back on loan
Borussia Dortmund are preparing a January loan move for former attacker Henrikh Mkhitaryan, reports the Sunday Mirror via the Sunday People.
Mkhitaryan left Dortmund for Manchester United over the summer, yet has failed to make an impact at Old Trafford, registering just 107 minutes of Premier League action this season.
Dortmund head coach Thomas Tuchel is surprised that the Armenian star has yet to be handed a proper chance at United and is considering an offer for Mkhitaryan in the New Year.
Tuchel has since told club CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke and general manager Michael Zorc that he would sanction a loan move for the 27-year-old, who was last season’s highest rated Bundesliga player (7.90).
The player’s United career stalled due to a thigh injury sustained in the 2-1 defeat to Manchester City, yet despite a return to fitness, he was left out of the United side that overcame Swansea City prior to the international break.
Dortmund are now prepared to contact United in January over a possible loan move that would see him return to Germany for the remainder of the season.
