Everton ready shock £40m offer for Chelsea man

Everton are reportedly ready to offer £40m for Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi in a bid to ensure the Belgian gets another shot at the Premier League, The Sun claim.

The 25-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund and impressed for the Bundesliga side but has found form and playing time harder to come by at Valencia this season.

The Spanish outfit were willing to end their season-long loan terms with the forward, who had been tipped to return to France in a reunion with former national team coach Thierry Henry at Monaco.

The Blues, however, favour a permanent transfer for a player that they don’t envisage in their future plans, so any such bid from the Toffees may well be welcomed.

Marco Silva is keen to add another striker to his ranks this month having seemingly turned his back on Cenk Tosun and already offloaded Oumar Niasse to Cardiff.

Batshuayi scored just once in La Liga for Valencia but only started four of 15 league appearances. He netted seven times in ten league appearances for Dortmund last season by comparison, while his strike rate for Chelsea in all competitions is not to be sniffed at.
