Telles pushing for Manchester United switch

FC Porto left-back Alex Telles hopes to join Manchester United by the end of the week after agreeing personal terms, claims The Guardian.

United have stepped up their pursuit of Telles as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sounds out competition for Luke Shaw at left-back.

The Red Devils pulled out of talks to sign Sergio Reguilon over Real Madrid's insistence over a buy-back clause only for Tottenham to land the Spaniard.

United have turned their attention to signing Telles, who has entered the final 12 months of his current Porto contract.

Telles has a £36.7m release clause but Porto are holding out for in the region of €25m (£22.9m), with United hoping to pay even less.

United have reportedly even agreed personal terms with the Brazilian defender worth around £75,000-a-week.

Telles has spent the last four years at Porto after a fairly underwhelming loan spell at Inter but has developed into a free-scoring, creative full-back in Portugal.

The 27-year-old remarkably scored or assisted 19 league goals last season, scoring 11 and registering eight assists.

Porto ran out 3-1 winners over Braga at the weekend in their first league game of the 2020/21 campaign, with Telles playing a direct hand in all three goals (one goal, two assists).
