West Ham have announced they have reached a deal in principle to sign Bayer Leverkusen striker Javier Hernandez.
The 29-year-old is now set to fly into London in the coming days to discuss personal terms and undergo his medical before securing a return to the Premier League.
West Ham have reportedly triggered the Mexico international’s £13m release clause and are now on the verge of securing the services of the former Manchester United striker.
Hernandez spent five years at United before moving to Germany to join Bayer Leverkusen in 2015 but is poised to become Slaven Bilic’s third signing of the summer following the arrivals of Pablo Zabaleta and Joe Hart from Manchester City.
Of players that have scored at least 20 goals in the Premier League since August 2010, only three players have scored more frequently than Hernandez (1 every 130.2 minutes of action).
