City star pledges future to the club

Yaya Toure insists he wants to remain at Manchester City and turn them into “the biggest club in the world”.

Toure, 32, has regularly been linked with a move away from the club in the last 12 months and appeared certain to leave over the summer.

However, the Ivory Coast international has pledged his long-term future to the club and has high hopes for the remainder of his stay.

“Sometimes there’s been big chat from my agent, the club and me as well, but what I want is to be here,” Toure told the Sunday Times.

“What City gave me is too much. What Sheikh Mansour, the owner gave me, I’m very grateful, very thankful.

“People think I am here for something else. No! From the beginning [since joining City from Barcelona in 2010], I wanted to see this club grow.

“Sometimes I play with injuries, but I want to show the boss and the fans I’m there to fight until the end. [Critics] don’t understand that. I want to leave my mark. My target is to be the biggest club in the world."

Since joining City, no midfielder has scored more goals in the Premier League than Toure (53).
