Manchester United keeping tabs on Real Madrid defender

Sergio Reguilon has been earmarked as a potential transfer target for Manchester United this summer, claims the Manchester Evening News.

United are weighing up a move for the Real Madrid left-back due to the current uncertainty in that position.

Luke Shaw is currently injured and there are doubts whether Brandon Williams has what it takes to push on despite a relatively impressive breakthrough campaign.

United shelved their interest in Ben Chilwell as a result of Williams' emergence and allowed Chelsea a free run at signing the England international for £50m this summer.

Reguilon spent last season on loan at Sevilla and played a key role in their Europa League semi-final win over United, assiting their equalising goal.

The 23-year-old has returned to parent club Real Madrid this summer but is stuck behind Ferland Mendy and Marcelo in the pecking order for places.

Reguilon, who has been rewarded with the chance to make his Spain debut by head coach Luis Enrique, was considered by Chelsea as an alternative to Chilwell due to his modest €25m (£22.3m) valuation.

Reguilon finished the 2019/20 LaLiga campaign in the WhoScored Team of the Season at left-back (7.10 rating) after playing a direct hand in six goals (two goals, four assists).
