According to CalcioMercato in Italy, Roma are set to offer goalkeeper Alisson a new bumper contract in order to deter any interest in the Brazilian this summer.
Liverpool were strongly linked with a move for the 25-year-old last month but will likely face competition should they make a bid to sign him in the summer, with the likes of Real Madrid, Paris Saint Germain and Bayern Munich all thought to be keeping tabs on the stopper.
The former International star has taken the gloves at the Stadio Olympic this season having been forced to make do with appearances in cup competitions prior to the departure of Wojciech Szczesny. He has since made a real impression in the capital and is currently in a tussle with Manchester City’s Ederson for the starting spot in Tite’s Brazil squad for the World Cup.
The report suggests that in his new contract, Roma would insert a release clause of £85m, which would represent a huge record for a goalkeeper should any club look to activate it.
Liverpool are known to be on the lookout for options in goal but whether they would spend so much to solve the problems that Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius have posed is unclear.
Alisson currently boasts the best save success ratio in Serie A (79.6%), which blows the figures of both Karius (63.2%) and Mignolet (59%) out of the water.
