Inter sign Tottenham creator Eriksen

Inter have confirmed the arrival of Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen on a four-and-a-half-year deal running until the summer of 2024.

Antonio Conte's side have been pursuing Eriksen's signature all month and have finally got a deal over the line for a reported €20m (£16.8m) fee.

Eriksen had entered the final six months of his Tottenham contract and made it clear he would not renew with Jose Mourinho's side.

Rather than losing the 27-year-old on a free transfer in the summer, Tottenham have opted to cash-in now while they can still demand a fee.

Ajax are entitled to 10 per cent of the transfer fee and Eriksen is the third player Inter have signed from the Premier League this month.

Conte secured a reunion with Chelsea outcast Victor Moses and also landed long-term admirer Ashley Young from Manchester United.

Eriksen's arrival, however, is a significant one and is a welcomed boost following Sunday's disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Cagliari.

Conte will now be tasked with getting Eriksen back to his best after a relatively stale 12 months.

Getting over the disappointment of not leaving in the summer, Eriksen's form has been poor this season and he has been in and out of the team as a result.

The Denmark international registered just two assists in 20 league appearances for Tottenham this season and has actually been booked more times (5) than he has played a direct hand in goals (4).

At his best, however, he was one of the Premier League's best playmakers. Illustrated by the fact, only Kevin De Bruyne (51) has registered more assists than Eriksen (39) in the Premier League since August 2016.
