Tottenham move to double star man’s wages

Tottenham have made the first move in their attempts to secure Dele Alli’s long-term future and are willing to double his wages, claims The Independent.

Alli only signed a new six-year deal worth £50,000-a-week in September 2016 but Tottenham want to keep the 21-year-old happy by aligning him with the club’s best earners.

The England international, like team-mate Harry Kane, has been linked with a move to Real Madrid in the past but Daniel Levy has already ruled out the sale of any of Tottenham’s best players at the end of the season.

Tottenham are now focusing on securing Alli’s long-term future in the wake of his decision to change representation and are even willing to double the salary in his existing deal.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are now entering a crucial stage in their development as increasing the wages of certain players could prove problematic with other members of the squad, particularly as Tottenham operate under a strict wage structure.

Alli has not been at his best this season but has still played a direct hand in 18 goals in 27 appearances across all competitions this season (nine goals, nine assists).
