Liverpool join Manchester United and Tottenham in race for Italian

Liverpool have joined Manchester United and Tottenham in the race to sign highly rated Roma attacker Nicolo Zaniolo, reports Corriere dello Sport via Sports Mole.

The Italy international was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League last summer, with Spurs lining up the youngster as a potential successor for Christian Eriksen.

Eriksen ultimately remained at Spurs, but departed in January for Inter before the north London side made Giovani Lo Celso's move permanent after his loan arrival from Real Betis.

However, if Roma are to entertain offers for Zaniolo, Spurs would likely firm up their interest in the Italian, with United also monitoring his situation in the Italian capital.

They'd now face competition from Liverpool for Zaniolo, who hasn't featured for Roma since suffering an ACL rupture in their 2-1 loss to Juventus in January.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is looking to bring in another attacker this summer and the Premier League leaders have been linked with a move for Timo Werner.

Roma would be reluctant to lose Zaniolo, but they may be forced into selling their prized asset to ease their financial concerns due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Zaniolo has made 18 league apperances for Roma this season, with his four goals and one assist contributing to a WhoScored rating of 6.91.
