Manchester City willing to send Felix back on loan to Benfica

Manchester City are prepared to send Joao Felix back to Benfica for a season to get a deal over the line this summer, claims The Daily Mirror.

Felix has emerged as one of the most sought after prospects in European football in the last six months after enjoying a breathtaking second half of last season with Benfica.

Manchester United, Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and City have all been heavily linked with a move for the Portugal international in recent months.

Atletico can offer Felix regular playing time straight away and Diego Simeone’s side are considered favourites for his signature.

However, City are desperate to sign Felix from Benfica and are even willing to send him back to his boyhood club on loan next season to get a deal over the line.

Real Madrid were considering this proposal before shelving their interest in Felix to focus on signing Eden Hazard from Chelsea.

Pep Guardiola is prepared to go into next season without bolstering his offensive options before bringing Felix into his plans for the 2020/21 campaign.

Felix made his senior Portugal debut during the UEFA Nations League finals earlier this month but his form for Benfica during the second half of last season was devastating.

The teenage sensation scored 15 goals and provided seven assists in 26 league appearances for Benfica in 2018/19, playing a direct hand in a league goal every 78.9 minutes of action.
