Leicester under pressure as £7.5m signing not ready to play

Leicester’s recruitment process has come in for criticism after Claudio Ranieri revealed £7.5m summer signing Bartosz Kapustka is not ready to play in the Premier League.

The reigning Premier League champions fended off interest from a number of clubs to sign Kapustka in the summer following his impressive performances at Euro 2016 with Poland.

However, the 19-year-old is still waiting to make his debut for Leicester this season, but Ranieri says that isn’t likely to come any time soon after revealing the Poland international is not cut out for Premier League football at the moment.

“Kapustka is a good player, getting better, but I don’t know when he will be ready to play in the Premier League,” The Daily Telegraph quote Ranieri as saying. “He is intelligent, he plays well, but he has to understand the Premier League is a battle in every ball.”

Leicester’s recruitment has come in for immense praise in the last 12 months after bringing in the likes of N’Golo Kante and Riyad Mahrez under the nose of the biggest clubs in the Premier League.

However, it is alleged that Leicester failed to even watch Kapustka live, raising suspicions he was signed off the back of his Euro 2016 performances.

Only Robert Lewandowski (3.8) was dispossessed more times per game at Euro 2016 for Poland than Kapustka (2.5).
