Tottenham confirm Kane ankle injury

Tottenham on Tuesday night confirmed the severity of Harry Kane’s ankle injury.

The England international sustained the problem early on in Spurs’ 6-0 FA Cup win over Millwall at the weekend, with Kane forced off after just 10 minutes.

And while it’s a similar injury to the one picked up at home against Sunderland earlier in the season, Spurs believe the problem to not be as severe this time around.

“Following further assessment today, the Club can confirm that Harry Kane sustained ligament damage to his right ankle during Sunday's FA Cup win against Millwall,” a statement read on the club’s official website.

“The injury is similar to the one suffered by the forward against Sunderland in September last year, however it is not considered to be as severe.

“Harry will continue to be assessed by our medical staff while he undergoes his rehabilitation at our Training Centre.”

His absence is a blow to Spurs in their pursuit of a top-4 finish, with no player scoring more Premier League goals than Kane (19) this season.
