Chelsea offer blockbuster new deal to Paris Saint-Germain target
Chelsea are offered N’Golo Kante a new contract to make him the best-paid player at the club amid interest from Paris Saint-Germain, claims The Times.
Kante has emerged as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League during the last three years and has been heavily linked with a return to France this summer.
PSG are on the market for a long-term replacement for Lass Diarra and Thiago Motta and believe Paris-born Kante is the ideal candidate.
Kante’s existing deal is not due to expire until 2021 but Chelsea want to reward the 2018 World Cup winner with improved terms to reflect his importance and end PSG’s pursuit.
Hazard is currently the highest earner at the club on £220,000-a-week but Chelsea’s new five-year offer to Kante is worth £290,000-a-week.
Maurizio Sarri’s side are also keen to improve Hazard’s contract but the Belgium international is considering his future at the club amid interest from Real Madrid.
In the last three Premier League campaigns, Kante has won more tackles and interceptions combined than any other player (738).
