Arsenal emerge as favourites to land Juventus target

Arsenal have emerged as frontrunners in the race to sign Napoli forward Arkadiusz Milik, who is also the subject of interest from Serie A champions Juventus, reports Italian publication La Repubblica via The Daily Star.

The Poland international has overcome two serious knee injuries during his time in Italy to star for this Naples side having scored nine goals from just 14 league starts this season.

However, Milik's current deal expires in 2021 and he has supposedly refused to sign a new contract, so Napoli would prefer to cash in this summer than lose him on a free.

And Juventus have been courting the 26-year-old as they seek a successor for Gonzalo Higuain, who has been linked with a summer return to the Premier League.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is keen to avoid strengthening a Serie A rival, however, and would be willing to accept offers of around €50m for Milik to ensure he doesn't move to Juventus.

This has alerted a number of Premier League sides, but it's supposedly Arsenal who lead the way for Milik as they step up their search for a replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Aubameyang is set to leave Arsenal this summer, with the Gunners, like Napoli and Milik, prepared to listen to offers for the striker rather than lose him on for nothing in 12 months' time.
