Torino president Urbano Cairo has slapped a world record €150m (£130m) price tag on Andrea Belotti’s head following the striker’s eight-minute hat-trick against Palermo at the weekend.
Belotti, 23, has been one of the stories of the Serie A season and his incredible rise continued after he blew Palermo away in the second half to give his side a 3-1 win on Sunday.
The Italy international has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea and Real Madrid already this season and suitors had been told they would need to trigger the €100m (£86m) release clause in deal Belotti in December.
However, if Torino’s president had his way then he would look to increase Belotti’s release clause even more following his breathtaking run of form.
“If I had to insert a figure in his contract right now I would go for €150 million,” Cairo told Sky Sport, via AS. “He scored three more crazy goals, one even better than the other.
“We will have to wait and see whether a team is willing to pay €100 million. I hope not because I want to keep him here. We are just enjoying him and his goals for now.”
Belotti is now four goals clear of any other player in Serie A this season, while the Italian is also on course to break Santos’ record of 25 goals for Torino in a league campaign set in 1950.
