Manchester United are no longer in talks to sign Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen before Thursday’s deadline, claims The Independent.
Eriksen has entered the final 12 months of his existing Tottenham contract and Mauricio Pochettino’s side have decided they want to cash in this summer.
The Denmark international does not want to renew with Tottenham and the north London outfit are concerned he will now leave for nothing at the end of next season.
Tottenham have reportedly even slashed their asking price of Eriksen to £50m, which led to United starting talks about a potential transfer for the 27-year-old.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to bolster his midfield options for the new campaign and the Red Devils have been linked with the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Paulo Dybala.
United felt they were being used by Sporting to whip up Fernandes’ asking price and withdrew their interest from Dybala due to staggering financial demands by the player’s camp.
Solskjaer’s side have also not put an end to talks for Eriksen, as the Tottenham creator’s preference is to secure a move to Real Madrid.
Since August 2015, Eriksen is the only player to register 50 assists in the Premier League.
