Manchester City star in line for new long-term deal

Manchester City are hopeful of securing Gabriel Jesus’ long-term future, reports The Daily Telegraph.

Talks are progressing well between City and Jesus’ representatives and they are growing increasingly confident of tying down the Brazilian to a new long-term deal.

The 20-year-old has been a revelation for City since arriving at the start of the year and Pep Guardiola’s side want to extend his current £70,000-a-week contract by a further two years to 2023.

His wages would also increase to a base salary of £100,000-a-week but City will include a string of performance related bonuses.

Jesus has scored or assisted 21 goals in 25 Premier League appearances for City since joining from Brazilian side Palmeiras in January.

Furthermore, of players that have scored at least 10 Premier League goals in 2017, only Harry Kane (1 every 82.8 minutes of action), Mohamed Salah (every 91.8 minutes) and Olivier Giroud (every 99 minutes) net more frequently than Jesus (every 102.1 minutes).
