Tottenham enter race for United target

Tottenham have entered the race to sign Manchester United target Zlatan Ibrahimovic, according to Gianluca Di Marzio, via HITC.

Ibrahimovic, 34, is out of contract in the summer after deciding against staying at Paris Saint-Germain and is widely expected to reunite with Jose Mourinho at United.

Mourinho’s side are the clear frontrunners for the mercurial Swede but now face competition from Tottenham, who are alleged to have tabled an offer for the striker.

However, it would take a huge change of the goalposts from Tottenham to land Ibrahimovic, with the forward reportedly demanding £220,000-a-week.

Given how hard Daniel Levy likes to negotiate and the fact no current Tottenham player earns six figures a week, the deal would seem very unlikely.

The Sweden international has just come off his best goal return in a league campaign in his career, with only Luis Suarez (40) scoring more times in Europe’s top five leagues (Ibrahimovic – 38).
