Mourinho fears Madrid will price Manchester United out of Bale move

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho believes Real Madrid will price Gareth Bale out of a move to Old Trafford this summer, claims The Daily Mirror.

Bale cast his Madrid future into doubt in the immediate aftermath of their Champions League triumph over Liverpool, putting United on red alert.

The Wales international used the title celebrations to voice his frustrations at Madrid and his agent will discuss his future with the club this week.

United have failed on two previous occasions to sign Bale and will consider a move for the 28-year-old if he decides to leave Madrid.

However, Madrid have no interest in making a loss on their £85m investment and could demand United pay double that fee this summer.

Mourinho is concerned United will not sanction a deal of that magnitude for a player approaching his 30s with injury concerns.

Bale came off the bench in Saturday’s Champions League final to score twice and fire Madrid to their third straight European trophy.

The former Tottenham star has now won the Champions League in four of his five seasons at Madrid, but was forced to settle for a reduced role this season.

Bale only started 23 of Madrid’s 51 games across league and European competition this season, netting 19 goals in the process.
