Roma have initiated talks about signing Liverpool centre-back Dejan Lovren in a deal worth in the region of £15m, claims The Independent.
Lovren has dropped down to fourth choice centre-back at Liverpool this season after failing to make the matchday squad in their Premier League opener on Friday.
The 30-year-old is understandably unhappy with the prospect of not even making Liverpool’s bench week-in week-out and Jurgen Klopp will not stand in his way of leaving.
Roma are on the market for a new centre-back after selling Kostas Manolas to Serie A rivals Napoli at the start of the summer.
Paulo Fonseca’s side were linked with a move for Tottenham ace Toby Alderweireld before his £25m release clause expired but have now earmarked Lovren as a potential signing.
Lovren has spent the last five years at Liverpool and his displays have divided opinion among supporters.
In fact, Lovren has committed the most errors directly leading to an opposition goal in the Premier League of all Liverpool outfielders in that time (five).
