United step up interest in troublesome PSG defender

Manchester United are looking to sign controversial Paris Saint-Germain right-back Serge Aurier in January, according to The Daily Mirror.

Aurier’s long-term future with the Ligue 1 champions has been called into question on several occasions already this year following a series of incidents on and off the field.

United manager Jose Mourinho is looking to strengthen his team in the January transfer window and deployed scouts to watch Aurier during the international break with a view to bidding for the powerful defender when the transfer window re-opens.

The 23-year-old still has four years remaining on the four-year deal he signed with PSG last year and wouldn’t come cheap for United, particularly in January, when transfer fees are always inflated.

Aurier averages more tackles per game in Ligue 1 of any PSG player this season (2.5).
