Former Manchester United target wants Atletico Madrid exit

Antoine Griezmann is growing increasingly frustrated at Atletico Madrid and is keen to leave the Spanish side this summer, claims ESPN.

The 2018 World Cup winner has turned down moves to Manchester United and Barcelona in each of the last two summer transfer windows to remain loyal to Atletico.

Atletico have rewarded Griezmann’s loyalty on both occasions with bumper new deals and his latest contract now runs until 2023.

However, Griezmann now appears to regret his decision not to join Barcelona and has reportedly even offered himself to the La Liga leaders for the summer, even willing to take a pay cut.

Barcelona have moved on from their interest in Griezmann, however, and are now targeting players in other positions.

United may enter the race for the 28-year-old but are for now prioritising a move for 18-year-old Jadon Sancho.

Griezmann has a €200m (£174M) release clause in his current deal but that drops to €120m (£104m) in the summer.

Atletico blew a 2-0 first leg lead over Juventus to crash out of the Champions League last-16 earlier this month and currently trail Barcelona by 10 points in the La Liga title race.

Griezmann has played a direct hand in 19 goals in 28 league appearances for Atletico this season and they have earned Diego Simeone’s side 18 points. In fact, only Lionel Messi’s goals and assists have been worth more points (20) in La Liga this term.
