Chelsea make enquiry for Lazio star Milinkovic-Savic

Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham have all sounded out a summer move for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic but face competition from a host of European clubs, claims The Daily Mail.

After a lacklustre 2018/19 campaign, Milinkovic-Savic has rediscovered his best form this season and played an integral part in Lazio's shock title challenge in Serie A.

The Serbia international has been heavily linked with a high profile move to one of Europe's biggest clubs for a number of years and is expected to take the next step in his career at the end of the current campaign.

Milinkovic-Savic has previously been touted as a €100m player but with transfer values set to tumble this summer as a result of the coronvirus outbreak it remains to be seen what Lazio can now command for his signature.

United have indentified the 25-year-old as a potential transfer target if they decide to cash in on Pogba this summer, while Juventus will step up their pursuit of the Lazio star if they cannot prise Pogba back to the club from Old Trafford.

Chelsea and Tottenham, meanwhile, are keen on the towering midfielder and both have reason for optimism about a deal due to their close connections with agent Mateja Kezman, who represents Milinkovic-Savic.

Kezman is still close to a number of Chelsea's current coaching staff, which includes former team-mates Frank Lampard, Claude Makele and Petr Cech, while Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho still has a good relationship with his former player.

Milinkovic-Savic has played a direct hand in eight goals in 25 league appearances for Lazio this season (four goals, four assists) and claimed the WhoScored Man of the Match award five times in that run.

The Lazio midfielder has also completed 76.9% of his attempted dribbles in Serie A this term and ranks second in the division for aerial duels won (90).
