Exclusive: Arsenal readying €60m Reus bid should Alexis exit Emirates
Arsenal will make a move for Borussia Dortmund man Marco Reus if they lose Alexis Sanchez at the end of the season, WhoScored can exclusively reveal via Emanuele Giulianelli.
The Gunners are fearful that their Chilean star will look to secure a move away from the Emirates in the summer, with a host of teams willing to take on the Premier League’s top goalscorer.
Arsenal are understandably keen to retain Alexis’ services, but are aware they could be without the 28-year-old for the start of next season if they fail to tie the star man down to a new deal.
Arsene Wenger will therefore approach Borussia Dortmund over the possibility of signing Reus as a replacement for Alexis.
The 27-year-old still has over two years left to run on his current deal with the Bundesliga giants, meaning Dortmund are under no pressure to cash in on the player anytime soon.
Nevertheless, Arsenal have opened negotiations with Dortmund over top target Reus and are prepared to offer €60m (£50.9m) in order to secure his signature.
Any deal would unlikely be completed until the end of the current campaign, were Reus would put pen to paper on a five-year deal worth €8m (£6.8m) per year.
Reus has struggled with injuries in recent seasons and has made just four Bundesliga starts this term, returning one goal and three assists.
