City run the rule over Dortmund hitman

Manchester City director of football Txiki Begiristain scouted Borussia Dortmund man Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in their 2-2 draw with Real Madrid earlier this week, reports the Sun on Sunday.

The Premier League side have been strongly linked with a move for the Gabon international in recent weeks, with manager Pep Guardiola believed to be a huge fan of the striker.

Real Madrid have also been credited with an interest in the 27-year-old, who has scored more goals (15) than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues this season.

City, though, will hope to convince Aubameyang to reject the overtures the Real Madrid as they look to bring in a replacement for Sergio Aguero.

The Argentine hitman, who has 10 league goals to his name this term, is currently serving a domestic four-match ban following his red card in City’s 3-1 loss to Chelsea recently and has been linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium.

Augero has also been attracting interest from Real Madrid, who are keen to bring him back to the Spanish capital.

And Begiristain will have been impressed with Aubameyang’s impact against Los Blancos in the Champions League, with the frontman netting in the stalemate to take his tally to four goals in four starts in Europe’s elite club competition this term.
