Fazio edges closer to Spurs exit

Federico Fazio could become the latest Tottenham player to leave White Hart Lane after West Bromwich Albion tabled a £5m bid for the defender, reports The Daily Telegraph.

Spurs have already parted ways with seven players this summer, as Mauricio Pochettino continues to sift through the deadwood at White Hart Lane and Fazio could be the next.

Tony Pulis is desperately looking to strengthen his squad following a poor start to the season that has seen the Baggies pick up just one point from their opening two matches and has seemingly targeted Fazio as the defender to bolster his backline.

The Argentina international only joined the Lilywhites 12 months ago for £8m and finished the Premier League campaign as their highest WhoScored rated player (7.39).

Additionally, it comes as no surprise to hear of West Brom's interest in a defender of Fazio’s calibre. In the Premier League last season, only Christian Benteke (6.5) won more aerial duels per game than Fazio (4.8).
