Allardyce wants Everton reunion with Crystal Palace forward
Sam Allardyce wants Everton to sign Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke when the January transfer window opens, claims The Daily Mirror.
There will be money for Allardyce to spend next month and the new Everton boss has made signing a new striker a priority after the Toffees failed to replace Romelu Lukaku in the summer.
Allardyce worked with Benteke during his short stint at Palace and wants a reunion at Goodison Park despite the striker’s struggles this season.
The 27-year-old scored his first goal of the season in Saturday’s 3-0 win away to Leicester but Palace will be reluctant to sell their main striker midway through the season.
Allardyce is also keen on beating Arsenal to the signature of Steven N’Zonzi, who looks destined to leave Sevilla in January.
N’Zonzi has not featured in Sevilla’s last six matches after falling out with the club and Everton are among the clubs interested in striking a deal in region of £25m.
Of players that have scored in the Premier League this season, Benteke has the worst conversion rate (3.6%).
