Tottenham set to sign Lloris' long-term successor

Tottenham are on the verge of signing Atalanta shot-stopper Pierluigi Gollini on loan with an option to buy, claims The Guardian.

New Tottenham sporting director Fabio Paratici is working his contacts in Italy to help build Nuno's squad for next season with Gollini poised to be the club's first signing of the summer.

Tottenham have agreed a deal in principle to loan Gollini for next season and they have an option to extend his stay by a further 12 months or make the switch permanent for €15m (£13m).

Nuno's side needed a new goalkeeper following the departure of Paulo Gazzaniga earlier this summer and Paratici has earmarked Gollini as the perfect long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris, who will turn 35 later this year.

Gollini spent two years in Manchester United's youth academy before returning to Italy in 2014 and was then signed by Aston Villa for two years before signing for Atalanta in 2017.

The 26-year-old would have been second choice at Atalanta this season after the Serie A outfit spent big to land Argentina international Juan Musso from Udinese at the start of the month.

Of goalkeepers that made at least 15 appearances in Serie A last season, Gollini had the second save success rate in the division (56.3%).
