Luis Suárez hopes his Barcelona teammate Pedro will remain at the club this summer, amid extensive interest from Manchester United.
Pedro is believed to be angling for a way out of the Nou Camp this summer in search of first-team football with United reportedly at the front of the queue willing to match his £22m release clause.
However, Suarez, like manager Luis Enrique, hopes the 27-year-old will resist any interest from Louis van Gaal’s side to remain a Barcelona player next season.
“Pedro’s thing is an individual decision,” Suárez told Marca. “He’s had many years at the club, he has won many titles and his decision will be reported.
“But as a team-mate, obviously, I want Pedro to stay because of the important that he has on a group level.”
United are reportedly lining Pedro up as Angel Di Maria’s replacement, who is expected to join Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
Pedro was restricted to just 15 starts in La Liga last season, with a further 20 appearances coming from the bench. Despite being an understudy to Neymar and Suarez, the Spain international still managed to chip in with six goals and six assists last season.
