Tottenham in advanced talks for shock LaLiga striker

Tottenham are on course to land Real Sociedad striker Willian Jose in a deal as Jose Mourinho desperately seeks cover for Harry Kane, claims The Guardian.

Mourinho is unsure whether Kane will play again this season after going under the knife for a hamtring injury earlier this month.

The Tottenham manager has called on the club to sign cover for the England captain after conceding teenage forward Troy Parrott is not ready to carry the burden.

It has now emerged Tottenham are in talks with Real Sociedad to sign Willian Jose, who has a stunning €70m (£59m) release clause.

Tottenham are not expected to pay that much for the 28-year-old, who has been linked with Everton in the past.

The Brazilian striker has scored eight goals in 20 league appearances for Sociedad this season but has returned a less-than-impressive WhoScored rating of 6.59 in that time.

Tottenham scored their first league goals of the calendar year in Tuesday's 2-1 win over Norwich and are now only six points off fourth.
