Manchester United have made waves in their attempts to sign Atletico Madrid versatile midfielder Saul Niguez, according to Spanish newspaper Don Balon, via The Daily Express.
Saul, 21, has been regularly linked with a move to Old Trafford since the turn of the year and United have reportedly been given the green light to press forward with a £31m move for the Spaniard.
Atletico were hopeful of extending his stay at the Vicente Calderon following his impressive campaign under Diego Simeone this season, but it is now thought he is reluctant to add to his remaining four years at the club.
Saul, who can play right the way across the midfield, has made the third most interceptions and tackles combined of Atletico players in La Liga this season (115).
