Tottenham are closing in on the signing of Andre Gomes from Barcelona, reports the Daily Mail.
Barcelona have been keen to ship the Portugal international for much of the summer, but a lack of suitable takers meant Gomes was likely to stay at Camp Nou.
However, Spurs have emerged as frontrunners in the race to secure his services, despite interest in the 24-year-old from West Ham.
The Hammers are keen to sign another midfielder before the close of the transfer window, and have been linked with a move for William Carvalho.
With a move stalling, they looked to snare Carvalho’s compatriot, but are set to miss out to Spurs for Gomes, who will move to the north London side on a season-long loan with a view to making the transfer permanent if he plays 60% of their games.
Tottenham have been busy in recent days in the transfer market, with the club on Thursday also confirming the capture of Serge Aurier from PSG.
