Chelsea defender moves to Everton

Everton have announced the arrival of Chelsea centre-back Kurt Zouma on a season-long loan deal.

Marco Silva’s side have worked tirelessly since yesterday’s 5pm deadline to get a deal for Zouma over the line.

The France international spent last season on loan at Stoke and Chelsea have now given the opportunity to get regular game time at Goodison Park.

Zouma emerged as a shock deadline day target for Manchester United but there were conflicting reports whether Jose Mourinho’s side were ever really interested.

The 23-year-old is still trying to rebuild his career after suffering a serious knee injury in February 2016.

Zouma looked like he would hold down a place in the Chelsea first-team for years prior to his gruesome injury and has not looked the same player since.

Everton announced the arrival of Barcelona centre-back Yerry Mina on deadline day and now also have Zouma to compete for places at the back with Michael Keane and Phil Jagielka.

Of players that contested at least 20 aerial duels in the Premier League last season, Zouma had the best success rate (77.9%).
