Manchester United in talks for Cavani and Real Madrid outcast Jovic
Manchester United are in talks for ex-Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani and Real Madrid outcast Luka Jovic, claims Gianluca Di Marzio.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to bolster his offensive options in addition to landing Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho, with Odion Ighalo due to return to China in January when his extended loan spell from Shanghai Shenhua expires.
Cavani has been a free agent since leaving PSG at the end of last season and has already seen moves to the likes of Benfica break down over his wage demands, with time running out to secure a new club for the 2020/21 campaign.
United have reportedly reached out to the Uruguay international about a potential deal but will be weary of signing another player coming to the end of their career after previously being burned by the likes of Radamel Falcao and Alexis Sanchez.
Cavani's wage demands could yet scupper a move to Old Trafford but United are also exploring the possibilty of handing Jovic a route out of his Madrid misery with a loan move for the Serbia international.
Jovic has been deeed surplus to requirements at Madrid almost ever since he made a shock £52.4m from Bundesliga outfit Frankfurt 12 months ago and Zinedine Zidane is looking to offload him this summer.

Cavani has also been considered by Madrid as back-up to Karim Benzema but Jovic would first have to leave in order to make room in their squad for the 33-year-old, as per LaLiga rules this summer.
Jovic was a surprise starter in Madrid's 3-2 win over Real Betis at the weekend but the 22-year-old did not influence the game and finished with a WhoScored rating of just 6.18 after 72 minutes on the pitch.
The Serbian striker earned a high profile move to Madrid after his stunning 2018/19 campaign when he scored 27 goals across league and European competition for Frankfurt, but has managed just two goals in the last 12 months.
Cavani, meanwhile, has managed only eight goals in 19 previous appearances against English opposition in his career.
Remarkably, El Matador has only played against United on one occasion and managed just a minute-cameo appearance from the bench in PSG's stunning 3-1 defeat in March 2019.
