Valencia sizing up Valdes

Valencia have made transfer listed Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes their No.1 target to replace the injured Diego Alves, according to Marca.

The Spanish side are desperately looking for a high class ‘keeper with Alves ruled out for up to six months following knee surgery in May.

Nuno’s side have already been unsuccessful in their attempts to capture Real Sociedad shot-stopper Rulli and Roberto from Olympiacos, but are now interested in luring Valdes away from United after Louis van Gaal yesterday revealed he is up for sale.

Valdes, 33, has only started in one competitive league game since March 2014, when he was forced off against Celta Vigo with what turned out to be a long-term knee injury.

The ex-Spain international was signed as David De Gea’s understudy on a 18-month deal at Old Trafford in January, but only managed 106 minutes of playing time in the United first-team last term and is now on his way out after falling out with Van Gaal.
