Newcastle midfielder set to stay

Newcastle United midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum isn’t looking to leave St. James’ Park amid speculation linking the Netherlands international to West Ham and Spurs.

Wijnaldum, 25, made a £14.5m switch from PSV in the summer but has found life hard in the Premier League with his four-goal haul against Norwich one of few bright spots for the Dutchman.

However, despite the fact Newcastle could get relegated this season, coupled with the fact there is reported interest from West Ham and Spurs, Wijnaldum is happy to stay with the Magpies.

“I knew it was difficult because they (Newcastle) had a tough season last year but I made the choice with full confidence and I still do not regret it,” Wijnaldum told Dutch station RTV Rijnmond, via The Shields Gazette.

“I’m still happy there (at Newcastle). I am just trying to do my thing and enjoy it – then you are at your best.”

Despite his slender physique, only two players have scored more goals in the Premier League with their head this season than Wijnaldum (4).
