Crystal Palace have confirmed the permanent capture of Jordan Ayew from Swansea City on a three-year deal.
The Ghanaian spent last season on loan at Selhurst Park, making 14 Premier League starts, where he scored one and assisted two for the Eagles.
“Ghanaian striker Jordan Ayew has joined Palace from Swansea City on a three-year deal subject to international clearance, following the forward’s season-long loan spell with the south London club last season,” a statement read on the club’s official website.
“The 27-year-old, who made 20 appearances (including 14 starts) in the Premier League for Roy Hodgson’s side, returns to Palace off the back of an impressive Africa Cup of Nations tournament, where he notched two goals in Ghana’s four games in the competition – as well as a successful penalty in his side’s shoot-out defeat to Tunisia in the last round of 16.”
On his return to Palace, Ayew said: "I am very happy [to have returned]. I really enjoyed myself last season.
"I enjoyed the stadium, the fans, the boys - they were really good to me - everything here was positive and that's why I decided to continue with Crystal Palace.”
Manager Roy Hodgson added: "We are delighted to secure Jordan's services for another three seasons at Crystal Palace. He has proved himself as a dedicated and hard-working member of the squad, and certainly played his part in the club securing its highest ever Premier League points tally in the last campaign."
One of Ayew’s statistically calculated WhoScored strengths is ‘defensive contribution’ and he exhibited this regularly last season as he ranked second for tackles per 90 (2.9) of all Palace players.
