1. LEON BAILEY (BAYER LEVERKUSEN)
After missing out on Malcom to Barcelona, Roma have identified Bayer Leverkusen starlet Leon Bailey as a potential transfer target. The Serie A giants want to bolster their offensive options with another prospect and believe Bailey could fit the criteria.
He was a revelation for Leverkusen last season and it was even suggested the Jamaican-born attacker could represent England at the 2018 World Cup.
The 20-year-old has reportedly told the Bundesliga outfit he wants to leave this summer, putting Roma on red alert for his services.
However, Roma ace competition from Chelsea, who are long-term admirers and ready to rival their European counterparts for his signature.
Bailey played a direct hand in 15 goals in 30 league appearances for Leverkusen last term (nine goals, six assists), while winning the WhoScored Man of the Match award on four occasions.
His Football INDEX share price has increased £0.15 in the last 24 hours as a result of the recent speculation about his future. Chelsea’s pursuit hinges on whether Eden Hazard joins Real Madrid, but there is a real chance Roma could swoop for his services.
2. THIAGO ALCANTARA (BAYERN MUNICH)
Bayern Munich are looking to trim their squad this summer and have reportedly transfer listed Spain international Thiago Alcantara as a result.
The former Barcelona midfielder dropped down the pecking order last season and will be free to find regular playing time elsewhere if Bayern receive a bid in excess of £60m.
Bayern have so far struggled to find suitors for the 27-year-old but Chelsea and Manchester United are understood to have made an approach for his services in the last few days.
Both Premier League clubs have signed one central midfielder this summer but are keen to strengthen their options in the middle of the park with one more new face.
United missed out on Thiago’s signature to Bayern back in 2013 and he would certainly provide creativity in midfield that Jose Mourinho is lacking.
Even if neither Premier League side end up signing the Spaniard, it would be a real surprise if he did not end up leaving the club, particularly given Leon Goretzka’s arrival.
His Football INDEX share price has increased £0.14 and it will only soar further if either Chelsea or United step up their pursuit.
3. YERRY MINA (BARCELONA)
Barcelona only signed Yerry Mina from Brazilian giants Palmeiras in January but the Colombia international is already free to leave the Spanish champions this summer.
The arrival of Clement Lenglet from Sevilla has only reinforced the feeling Mina will need to leave Barcelona in order to find regular first-team football and Ernesto Valverde’s side are sounding out potential buyers.
Manchester United and Lyon have reportedly both made an approach to sign the talented 23-year-old, while newly promoted Premier League side Wolves are also understood to be keen on an audacious swoop.
Mina did his reputation no harm at the 2018 World Cup after the centre-back scored three goals in as many appearances for a Colombia side that were eliminated in the round of 16 stage to England on penalties.
With Mina facing the prospect of a new club, his Football INDEX share price has increased £0.13 in the last 24 hours. Lenglet’s arrival means he will almost certainly be sold and he would be a worth addition to your portfolios, particularly if United pull off a surprise move.
4. AMINE GOUIRI (LYON)
The lesser-known player from the top-five is Lyon teenager Amine Gouiri, who has caused a real stir on Football INDEX in the last 24 hours of trading.
The 18-year-old only made seven substitute appearances in Ligue 1 last season but his Football INDEX share price is already a staggering £1.71.
Gouiri is currently on international duty with France at the Under-19 European championships and is really impressing.
The Lyon forward is on course to finish the tournament as top scorer, having netted four times in France’s opening four matches, including a brace against England earlier this week.
It’s unlikely Gouiri will feature regularly for Lyon next season but he is certainly one to keep an eye on. His Football INDEX is currently so high that it may not be work backing the youngster if you haven’t already.
5. JORGINHO (CHELSEA)
Chelsea pulled off a real shock in the transfer market after hi-jacking Manchester City’s move for Napoli midfielder Jorginho.
Having already appointed Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri as Antonio Conte’s replacement, the arrival of Jorginho will only help the Italian settle into life at Stamford Bridge.
Jorginho made his Chelsea debut during a 1-0 win over Perth Glory in pre-season and the Italy international was thoroughly impressive, even if his cameo only last 45 minutes.
Chelsea were impressive in possession and Jorginho immediately left his stamp on the team. His quality was best illustrated when Sarri replaced the midfielder at the break, as Chelsea struggled to play with the same intensity afterwards.
The west London outfit have endured a nightmare summer but the arrival of Jorginho is the turning point. His Football INDEX share price has increased £0.12 to £2.70 and will likely only increase more once the Premier League gets underway.
