Team Form Rankings: No place for Real Madrid, Bayern as Man City lead top 10
With the Bundesliga now six games in and qualifying among our team form rankings, we reveal our first edition of the top ten this season, with a number of notable absentees.
Madrid duo Real and Atletico miss out on the leaderboard at this early stage after playing out a goalless draw at the weekend, while Bayern Munich’s defeat at Hertha Berlin also rules them out.
It’s Manchester City that lead the way, dropping just two points from the last 18 available, scoring 19 times in their last six matches, though they are joined by four fellow Premier League outfits, with Liverpool (sixth), Arsenal (seventh), Chelsea (eighth) and Tottenham (ninth) making the top ten.
The Gunners have now won five on the spin in the league, which is something only PSG and Juventus can better, ranking second and fourth respectively. Borussia Dortmund are the filling in that particular sandwich in third having leapfrogged Bayern to the Bundesliga’s summit at the weekend, coming from behind to win 4-2 at Bayer Leverkusen.
Barcelona drop to tenth but cling onto their top ten status despite a stalemate with Athletic Club, while the overachievers at this early stage are Montpellier, who moved to third in Ligue 1 and fifth in the rankings with a 3-0 win over Nimes to stretch their unbeaten run to six matches.
