Rejuvenated Aston Villa dominate Premier League team of the week
In their first game week after Steven Gerrard’s sacking, it is Aston Villa that dominate the Premier League team of the week after a very convincing 4-0 win over Brentford with two of the goalscorers, Leon Bailey and Danny Ings, joined by Ezri Konsa in the XI. There is also room for players from seven other teams, namely Tottenham, Manchester City, Fulham, Leicester, West Ham, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest.
Dean Henderson (Nottingham Forest) – 8.09
In what was a huge result for Nottingham Forest as they beat Liverpool 1-0 in the early kick off on Saturday, it was on-loan Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson who played the biggest part, keeping a clean sheet and making seven saves against some of the Premier League's top attacking players, earning him a WhoScored rating of 8.09.
Kieran Trippier (Newcastle) – 8.11
For yet another week, Kieran Trippier is present in our Premier League team of the week after a solid display in Newcastle’s 2-1 win away from home against his former side, Tottenham. His performance at right-back included returning pass success rate of 83.3%, making four tackles and winning three aerials, which helped his side to a big win to take them fourth, and earn Trippier a WhoScored rating of 8.11.
West Ham claimed their first win in three, beating Bournemouth at the London Stadium on Monday night. Kurt Zouma opened the scoring for the Hammers with a headed effort shortly before half time, and throughout the game played his part to maintain a clean sheet, including making two interceptions, giving him a WhoScored rating of 8.05.

It has been a difficult start to the season for Aston Villa, but they earned their first league win in over a month with a convincing 4-0 victory over Brentford on Sunday. There were a lot of standout performers, including Ezri Konsa, who helped to maintain the clean sheet for his side with a 100% tackle success rate, one interception and six clearances, giving him a WhoScored rating of 7.77.

Another West Ham defender who played their part in the win on Monday was Aaron Cresswell. Leicester stretched their current unbeaten run to three on Sunday with a big 4-0 win over Wolves. James Maddison, who has been one of the Foxes' stand outs so far this campaign, scored the third goal and had a pass success rate of 83.3%, giving him an overall WhoScored rating of 8.21.
Andreas Pereira (Fulham) – 8.32
In a dramatic 3-2 win over Leeds, Fulham made it back-to-back victories in the league. Two of the goals were assisted by Andreas Pereira. The Brazilian also created two big chances and made four key passes in the game, giving him a WhoScored rating of 8.32.
Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) – 8.05
Manchester City got back to winning ways on Saturday with a 3-1 home victory over Brighton. Kevin De Bruyne scored his side's third goal and made three key passes in the game. This as well as his overall performance gave De Bruyne a WhoScored rating of 8.05.
Leon Bailey (Aston Villa) – 8.44
Another Aston Villa player to star in our team of the week was Leon Bailey after he contributed to two of the four goals for his side, netting the opening goal and then turning provider for Danny Ings. He also managed a pass success rate of 93.3% and completed two dribbles, making him one of our players of the week with a WhoScored rating of 8.44.

Alongside Bailey, Danny Ings too is our player of the week as he scored two of Villa’s four goals from his two shots on target. He also made three key passes in the game and completed one successful dribble, giving him a WhoScored rating of 8.44.
Despite his side's 2-1 defeat to Newcastle on Sunday, Harry Kane stood out as one of the top performers of the weekend after his efforts, especially in the attacking third. As well as scoring his side's only goal of the game, his presence in the area was real threat for Newcastle as he mustered five shots - only Miguel Almiron had more in the game - and won four aerial duels - only Eric Dier won more in the clash - giving him a Whoscored rating of 7.91.
