Below are FPL Heisenberg's UltimateFan picks and the reasoning behind his selections.
Erling Haaland (Fixture: Bournemouth, Away)
The Norwegian has another winnable fixture this weekend as Manchester City travel to Bournemouth - he’ll be looking to add to the 16 goals and six assists he’s amassed so far.
Bournemouth have conceded 46 goals this season - only three teams have conceded more - which bodes well for Pep Guardiola’s men. On the flip side, City have scored 58 goals - only Liverpool have scored more in the Premier League this season.
Haaland is still the top goalscorer in the league this season despite missing a big chunk of the campaign so far through injury and he’ll be looking to make up for lost time by banging in as many goals as possible.
Bukayo Saka (Fixture: Newcastle, Home)
Bukayo Saka’s end product in recent weeks has been nothing short of sensational, scoring six in his last four games. His underlying numbers have been impressive, too, suggesting the attacking returns will keep on coming this week
Arsenal have a favourable home fixture for goals against Newcastle this week. The Geordies have seen a big decline in their defensive numbers in recent weeks, conceding plenty of big chances. Conversely, the Gunners have scored 58 goals this season, level with City and only Liverpool have scored more; it’s going to be a tough night at the Emirates for the Toon!
He is pretty much guaranteed to start and play 90 minutes - unless Arsenal are winning comfortably - and he’s also on penalties, and has duel threat as he can bag goals and assists.
Pedro Neto (Fixture: Sheffield United, Home)
Pedro Neto has been in scintillating form this season, despite his long injury layoff. He’s scored twice and assisted a whopping 11 times in 15 starts. Wolves have been a decent attacking outfit so far this season and as the goals flow at home to a leaky Sheffield United, he should be involved in the action.
Sheffield United have conceded more than any team this season so l expect a home win for Wolves, and plenty of goals to boot. Should that happen, it’ll likely result in a decent fantasy return for Pedro Neto.
The lack of goals is worrying, but he more than makes up for that with his assist threat. If you’d like a Wolves midfielder with more goal threat, but less assist threat, then Hee-Chan Hwang is also a great choice this week.
Douglas Luiz (Fixture: Nottingham Forest, Home)
Set-piece king Douglas Luiz has a solid 11 attacking returns this season - seven goals and four assists - making him a decent option this week. A plumb fixture for the Brazilian at home to Nottingham Forest who have conceded plenty of goals this season.
Luiz is nailed on, too, which is important for fantasy returns. The likes of Diaby and Bailey are more attractive picks but they can rotate so I prefer the safer option. Furthermore, he’s played 90 minutes in the majority of Premier League games for Aston Villa, which is great for the potential of late goals and has happened a lot in the Premier League this season with the additional injury time we’re seeing.
Should be plenty of goals in this one and it doesn’t take much for Douglas Luiz to haul, all it needs is a penalty and an assist from a corner and you’re flying. Against a Nottingham Forest side that has conceded more set-piece goals, excluding penalties (15) in the Premier League this season... it's a no brainer.
