Casemiro and Shaw the Man Utd representatives in Premier League team of the week

This week’s team of the week features eight teams, including Brentford, Manchester United and Newcastle who each have two players feature in the XI.

Stefan Ortega (Manchester City) – 7.84

After Arsenal’s defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday, Manchester City were crowned champions for a third successive year before their match against Chelsea on Sunday. This allowed Pep Guardiola to make changes to his team, including bringing in goalkeeper Stefan Ortega. Ortega not only kept a clean sheet, but his efforts cemented a WhoScored rating of 7.84, which was enough to earn him the man of the match in City’s 1-0 win as he made six saves and maintained a pass success rate of 88%.

Kieran Trippier (Newcastle) – 7.34

A point against a struggling Leicester in a 0-0 stalemate was enough to secure Champions League football for Newcastle next season. One of the key players in their push to secure a top four place has been Kieran Trippier and he continued that with a solid performance on Monday night. The England international registered the joint most key passes (3), the most touches (162) and the most accurate passes (113) of any player during the course of the match, while two aerial duels won and one tackle was enough to help Trippier earn a 7.34 WhoScored rating.

Fabian Schar (Newcastle) – 8.16

The other Magpie to make the XI and the man of the match from the draw with the Foxes is Fabian Schar, who earned a WhoScored rating of 8.16. With Eddie Howe’s side dominating, Schar was just as involved offensively, with three shots and two key passes registered, as he was defensively making one tackle, two interceptions and four clearances, while he won at least eight more aerial duels (11) than any other player.

Marc Guehi (Crystal Palace) – 7.73

Crystal Palace secured a 2-2 draw with London rivals Fulham. Possession was relatively even in the game, while both sides managed 11 shots each, which meant defensively, players had to be at their best. Despite his side conceding twice, Marc Guehi played his part to deal with Fulham’s rapid attack, making two tackles, four clearances and one interception. Meanwhile, only Tosin Adarabioyo (5) won more aerial duels than Guehi (4) at Craven Cottage. In addition, only Jordan Ayew (5) completed more dribbles than Guehi (3), while the centre-back also registered a key pass, helping him to a WhoScored rating of 7.73.

Luke Shaw (Manchester United) – 7.60

Completing the defence after his side’s 1-0 win over Bournemouth with a 7.60 WhoScored rating is Manchester United’s Luke Shaw. The left-back won all four of his tackles, allowing no, while he won possession in the midfield third more times (7) than any other player, but with United in control, it was his attacking output that proved his biggest strength as Shaw completed two dribbles on the south coast and registered a key pass. Furthermore his pass success rate of 93.1% was the second best of the 22 starting players, and he was the only player to register 100 or more touches (109), emphaising his constant involvement.

Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford) – 9.00

With a 9.00 WhoScored rating, Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo is the player of the week after his contribution in the Bees’ 3-1 win over London rivals Tottenham. Thomas Frank’s side were behind after only 10 minutes and Mbeumo was pivotal in turning the game in his side’s favour, contributing to all three Brentford goals, scoring the equaliser and the second, and assisting the third for Yoane Wissa. To cap off his man of the match display, Mbeumo’s six shots were more than any other player, as were his eight touches in the opposition box, while only two of his 18 total passes failed to find a teammate.

Lucas Paqueta (West Ham) – 8.76

Having booked their Europa Conference League final in midweek, West Ham followed that up with a 3-1 win over Leeds on Sunday. Lucas Paqueta was the man of the match at the London Stadium after a commanding display in the midfield, where he earned a WhoScored rating of 8.76. One of the Brazilians three key passes resulted in the assist for the Hammers' third goal by Manuel Lanzini, while his four shots were more than any other player. He also completed at least four more dribbles (6) than any other player, made the second most tackles (4) and won four aerial duels in an impressive all-round display.

Casemiro (Manchester United) – 8.66

With the only goal in Manchester United’s win over Bournemouth, Casemiro, with a 8.66 WhoScored rating, makes the team of the week. To go with his early goal, only Bruno Fernandes (4) registered more key passes than Casemiro (3) and the pair managed the joint most shots (4). Impressive off the ball, the Brazilian midfielder won all four of his aerial duels, made the joint most tackles (5) and made two clearances and two interceptions.

Willian (Fulham) – 7.95

With a 7.95 WhoScored rating, Willian was the man of the match in Fulham's 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace. The winger registered the most key passes (4) at Craven Cottage, one of which resulted in the assist for Aleksandar Mitrovic’s and Fulham’s second, while he also completed both of his attempted dribbles. Willian also had two shots of his own and made one tackle, too.

Yoane Wissa (Brentford) – 8.22

Yoane Wissa was equally as important to Brentford’s win as teammate Mbeumo, contributing to two of Brentford's three goals, with one of his own and the assist for Mbeumo's first, that coming from one of two key passes. Wissa also completed one dribble, won two aerial duels and registered four touches in the opposition box, earning himself a WhoScored rating of 8.22.

Evan Ferguson (Brighton) – 8.02

Evan Ferguson completes the XI with an 8.02 WhoScored rating after his part in Brighton’s 3-1 win over Southampton as the Seagulls secured European football for the first time. The Irish forward bagged a brace from a match high five shots, while he also registered six touches in the opposition box and six of his eight passes found a teammate.
