After running through the five highest risers this week, here are our buy tips as the World Cup looms

Thorgan Hazard – Gladbach (Buy)

Reports on Thursday morning from Belgian football experts suggest Thorgan Hazard’s father has been in Valencia to negotiate a move to the Spanish side. La Liga counterparts Atletico Madrid have also been credited with an interest in the Belgian, as have Premier League side Leicester City, and while the attacker still has two years left to run on his current Gladbach contract; Hazard is still expected to leave the Bundesliga outfit this summer.

The 25-year-old still hopes to make Roberto Martinez’s 23-man Belgium squad for the World Cup and comes into the competition on the back of a commendable domestic campaign having scored 10 and assisted five in Germany’s top tier this term. As rumours of his future begin to intensify, a buy price of £1.44 per share on Football INDEX could prove a bargain.

Simone Verdi – Bologna (Buy)

Simone Verdi is again being linked with a move to Napoli, with recently appointed head coach Carlo Ancelotti a supposed fan of the Bologna wideman. Football INDEX users have taken note with Verdi’s buy price increasing 12.22% over the last seven days, but that spike shouldn’t deter you from adding the Italian to your portfolio.

The 25-year-old was one of 14 players to register double figures for goals (10) and assists (10) in Europe’s top five leagues this season and Napoli’s interest in Verdi comes as little surprise. With a buy price of £1.79 per share, he may be a handy addition to your portfolio.

Mario Mandzukic – Juventus (Buy)

Manchester United have been heavily linked with moves for Marko Arnautovic and Mario Mandzukic this summer, with Jose Mourinho in attendance in Austria’s 1-0 win over Russia on Wednesday night, presumably to watch the former in action. The West Ham forward has seen his buy price increase 27.8% over the last 24 hours on Football INDEX, even if the Hammers are adamant their prized forward is not for sale.

Mandzukic, though, could be a more affordable addition to your portfolio. The Croatian forward has routinely been linked with a move away from Juventus, with a Premier League switch on the cards. He won’t be as expensive as Arnautovic for United either and with a buy price of £1.11, may be a shrewd pick up before the transfer merry-go-round kicks up a notch.

Thibaut Courtois – Chelsea (Buy)

Chelsea are understandably desperate to tie Thibaut Courtois down to a new deal, but after talks stalled over a contract at the turn of the year, the goalkeeper’s future at Stamford Bridge remains up in the air. The 26-year-old has just a year left to run on his current deal in the capital and it’s prompted fresh speculation over a possible summer move.

The goalkeeper has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid, while Liverpool may try their luck at landing Courtois as Jurgen Klopp looks to improve his goalkeeping options. At the time of writing, the goalkeeper has a buy price of £0.87 on Football INDEX, which could prove a bargain.

Alvaro Odriozola – Real Sociedad (Buy)

Young Real Sociedad full-back Alvaro Odriozola was included in Spain’s 23-man World Cup squad on the back of a commendable league campaign. The 22-year-old is considered one of the finest young players in Spain and Champions League winners Real Madrid have been credited with an interest in the left-back.

Considering Marcelo’s advancing years, Real Madrid will look to add a new full-back sooner rather than later. While Theo Hernandez is an option for Los Blancos, competition for a starting spot at the Bernabeu is key and it could be that Odriozola makes the move to Madrid sooner rather than later. As speculation over his future increases, a buy price of £1.17 on Football INDEX will undoubtedly rise, so it’s worth getting on this sooner rather than later.
