Manchester City have been told they will have to pay in excess of €30m (£25.9m) to sign Benfica goalkeeper Ederson in the summer, reports Yahoo.
Pep Guardiola only signed Claudio Bravo from Barcelona in a deal worth £15.4m at the start of the season but the Chile international has struggled to adapt to the Premier League and is already being linked with a return to Spain.
The 33-year-old has even dropped below Willy Caballero in the pecking order at City in the last week and Guardiola is now eyeing a summer move for Benfica’s No.1 goalkeeper with Joe Hart, who is on loan at Torino, unlikely to ever play for City again.
However, City have been told they will need to make Ederson one of the most expensive goalkeepers of all-time in order to land the 23-year-old even though Benfica only signed him for €500,000 in 2015.
Only Iker Casillas (11) has kept more clean sheets in the Portuguese Liga Nos this season than Ederson (9), while only Sporting ace Rui Patricio (77.6%) has a greater pass accuracy than Ederson (67.7%) of all goalkeepers to have made at least five appearances this season.
